Worth the short drive for paint you care about.
A few minutes up Mission Gorge Rd or SR-125 and you're at a wash where every vehicle is cleaned by hand — the right call for dark paint, wraps, ceramic coatings and the soft finishes most EVs come with.
The case for driving a few extra minutes
La Mesa is well supplied with quick automatic washes. If the car is a beater, they do the job. If you've got dark paint, a wrap, a ceramic coating or a lease you'd like to hand back without a swirl-mark deduction, a tunnel is a bad trade — three minutes saved for scratches that only a polisher will take back out.
Everything here is washed 100% by hand, with clean mitts and clean water, by people who have been doing it on Magnolia Ave since 1998. Nothing mechanical touches the vehicle at any point.
EVs, wraps and soft paint
Tesla, Rivian, Mach-E, ID.4, i4 — modern EVs pair big flat panels with paint that marks easily, which is exactly what tunnel brushes are worst on. Hand washing is the safe option, and we do it every day. EVs carry a small additional charge, shown to you at booking. Wrapped and coated cars are equally routine: no aggressive chemicals, no machinery, just the method those finishes are supposed to get.

Getting here, and getting out
From La Mesa, Mission Gorge Rd or SR-125 both put you into Santee in a few minutes; we're at 8931 Magnolia Ave on Magnolia Ave, the main north–south street through town. Open Monday to Saturday 8am–6pm and Sunday 8am–5pm. Book a time before you drive over and there's nothing to wait for when you arrive — and nothing to pay until the work is done.
Is Magnolia Car Wash really a 100% hand wash?
Yes. Every vehicle is washed by hand, by people — no automatic tunnel, no spinning brushes, no cloth strips dragging the last car’s grit across your paint. Soft mitts and clean water are what touch your clear coat.
Can you wash a Tesla or another EV?
Yes — hand washing is the gentlest option for the big flat panels and soft paint most EVs come with. EVs carry a small additional charge, which is shown when you book.
Do you serve El Cajon, Lakeside and La Mesa?
Every day. Magnolia Ave runs straight up from El Cajon, Lakeside is a few minutes east, and La Mesa is a short drive southwest — a lot of our regulars come from outside Santee because a true hand wash is hard to find.
What detailing services do you offer?
Full interior and exterior detailing — Complete Detail Service, Exterior Detail, Interior Detail, Dupont Teflon and Carnauba paste wax, and silicon or ceramic hand wax. There are also Express Mini Details, each of which includes a Super Deluxe wash.
